This initiative will allow us to invest in our people, fill in-demand jobs, and increase economic equity across our region. “Together, FutureMarkers at Collaboratory and FGCU will work with employers and other colleagues throughout our region to create the SWFL Equitable Jobs Pipeline. “I’m pleased to say this is the largest grant in FGCU’s history, and it has the potential to transform the Southwest Florida economy,” said Aysegul Timur, vice president and vice provost in a letter to FGCU’s campus. The $500 million program is expanding opportunities for more Americans to access and secure good-paying jobs by investing in innovative approaches to advance worker centered, industry-led workforce training partnerships. The program awarded grants to 32 worker-centered, industry-led workforce training partnerships across the country. This grant is funded through the American Rescue Plan Good Jobs Challenge. “This EDA investment will provide education and job placement assistance to those communities traditionally underserved, creating a pipeline of skilled workers in several key industries.” “The Biden-Harris Administration supports efforts to provide Americans with access to workforce development programs leading to quality, in-demand jobs,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

On May 28, the exhibition and living spaces of documenta were broken into and defaced with what can only be interpreted as a death threat. Since that time there has been further racist activity against us, and it has crossed over from the digital space into our physical spaces. We, the lumbung community (the artists and members of documenta fifteen), add our collective voices in support of the letter that was published on May 7 by ruangrupa, the artistic team of documenta fifteen, and some curators of the failed forum “We Need to Talk! Art – Freedom – Solidarity,” in response to the ripple effects of the false accusations of anti-Semitism made against some members of this lumbung community.
