I only ever watched the last episode, again this was 26 years ago, where it was revealed at the end that the whole show was being told by the weird little monkey creature after he had grown up some ten or hundred years later, to a new generation of humans who were beginning to repopulate the planet or somesuch. There were at least two alien or mutant-type creatures an evil, giant red monster mutant race with a sharp pointy head and angular features and a benevolent race of giant creatures with brown coloring which turned out to be grown up versions of the little monkey creature (more on that later). There seem to have been humans too, but it was sort of dystopian, if not flat out post-apocalyptic, because it seems like the humans were small in number, and fighting to servive.

The first time I ever saw it referenced was in a magazine ad which came in the mail advertising this brand new show, with a weird little alien/mutant monkey-like creature with bright, vibrant colored fur and a strange walking pattern (he walked with three legs or four like Sebulba from Star Wars Episode I, can't remember now) with big chihuahua like ears and a cute face with big eyes. It COULD have been an anime and I MIGHT be misremembering, and it might also have been a miniseries, but I doubt either of those are true. It was a late 1995/early 1996 cartoon kids show, possibly Saban or DIC with a similar animation style to the X-Men and Spiderman animated series, which lasted less than one whole season, and maybe five or ten episodes total. This is a REALLY deep dive for me, because I haven't seen it referenced anywhere in at least 26 years and Google searching for hours turns up nothing close. Hey all, first time poster so if I make any mistakes just let me know.
